About Dr. Prato
Born and raised in Aruba, Dr. Gaby is a Board Certified Pediatrician with over ten years of clinical experience. After high school, she moved to South Florida, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Florida International University and subsequently received her medical degree from Nova Southeastern University. After completing her Residency in Pediatrics at the University of Miami/Holtz Children's Hospital, she embarked on a rewarding career dedicated to providing medical care for children of all ages. Dr. Gaby specializes in Pediatric Hospital Medicine, and as a traveling pediatrician, she has brought her expertise to institutions across the United States and has worked in both large, highly specialized institutions — such as The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and INOVA Childrens Hospital in Fairfax, VA, and Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children in Denver, CO — as well as many smaller rural hospitals throughout the Unites States, where she found a passion for serving underserved communities. These diverse settings have deepened her commitment to ensuring every child has access to the best medical care, regardless of geography or circumstance. In 2024, she returned to Aruba with her husband and 3 young children, with the intention of continuing her work as a traveling physician. She quickly realized that pediatric care was lacking on the island. Not because of a lack of experienced pediatricians — Aruba is fortunate to have highly skilled and dedicated pediatric doctors — but because there are not enough pediatricians to meet the needs of the growing population, and there are limited pediatric resources and access to pediatric subspecialty care on the island. And so Island Med Pediatrics came to fruition, in hopes of addressing these gaps for Aruba’s children and families. Humbled and honored by the trust families place in her, she finds joy in counseling parents and caregivers, focusing on prevention, and acting as a strong advocate for her young patients. Today, she aspires to redefine pediatric care by providing a unique and personalized experience, delivering quality and compassionate pediatric care to Aruba’s children in the comfort of their homes, as well as to Aruba’s youngest visitors in the comfort of their hotel rooms or lodgings while visiting the island. Dr. Berlinski Prato is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and a Fellow of both the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians (ACOP). Her commitment to making a difference shines through every patient interaction and every step she takes to ensure children and families feel supported, valued, and cared for.
